Porsche 911 RSR with Pink Pig livery!

Just when you thought we already brought all the best and coolest cars we launched this amazing Porsche 911 RSR deck with the “pink pig” livery!

Original design from the Porsche 917/20

The 911 RSR Pink Pig adopted the famous design from the Porsche 917/20 from 1971. This one-of-a-kind race car was designed to combine the aerodynamic advantages of the short and long-tail versions of the 917 and thereby ensure that the previously untested car would win the qualification.

The 917/20 was dubbed the “Pink Pig” due to its pink paintwork with sections of the car labelled in butcher-style cuts. The idea came from Porsche designer Anatole Lapine. Still today, the 917/20, also known as the “Truffle Hunter of Zuffenhausen”, is one of the most famous Porsche cars ever. Sadly, the car crashed before it reached the finish line, but its head-turning paint job kept its memory alive during all these years.

The Pink Pig 911 RSR was a tribute to the 917/20 and competed at the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018, for Porsche's 70th birthday. The Porsche 911 RSR Pink Pig livery became even more famous when it eventually won the LMGTE class with top drivers; Kevin Estre (France), Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) and Michael Christensen (Denmark). At the race, Porsche even brought out a stuffed pig from Ikea and tossed pork out to its fans at the race. The brand really went all in by calling each pitstop a "pigstop," and using pink headlamps in place of white ones. It is easy to tell this was a meaningful and historic win for Porsche.

This strange colour scheme idea came from Porsche designer Anatole Lapine. The bodywork of the 917/20 was developed by a French company called Sera, which produced a car body that had larger radius curves that someone remarked looked like a pig. So, Lapine painted the car pink and added a butcher's outline of sorts that highlighted the various cuts on a pig. The car was nicknamed "Die Sau" (German for "The Sow"), and the "Pink Pig". It wasn’t the first time Lapine created memorable paint treatment for Porsche’s racing cars. He also created the ‘Hippie Porsche’ and did a rework of the ‘Gulf’ livery for the Trio of 908/3 cars at the 1971 Targa Florio.

Under the pink pig skin sits a 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder capable of producing around 510 horsepower. You operate the car through a paddle-shifted six-speed sequential transmission and send power to the rear wheels.
