Designed by Norbert Singer
The Porsche 935 K3 was designed by Norbert Singer, who was the chief engineer at Porsche from 1975 to 1981. The car was powered by a 3.2-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that was capable of producing more than 800 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful race cars of its time. It was also fitted with a six-speed manual transmission, allowing the driver to make the most of the car's power.
Second place in it's first race at 24 hours of Le Mans
The car first raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978, where it finished second overall, behind the winning Porsche 936 driven by Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell. The 935 K3 went on to have success in other long-distance races, including the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. In 2019, Porsche unveiled the 2019 special edition of the iconic 935—a car that has long been associated with the brand’s racing heritage. This limited edition is a tribute to the legendary 935/78 “Moby Dick,” which was the star of the 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
